The final stage uses sub-micron polishing compound to eliminate even the finest scratches visible to the naked eye.

Mirror-polished stainless letters require more careful handling than brushed or painted alternatives. Sunlite Signs ships every polished letter with double-layer protective film, and we recommend the following best practices for your install crew:

• Keep protective film in place until the letter is fully mounted and all surrounding construction work is complete
• Wear clean cotton or microfiber gloves when handling polished surfaces — fingerprints can etch into the surface if left for extended periods
• Remove protective film by pulling slowly at a sharp angle, not by yanking straight back
• Clean installed letters with a microfiber cloth and stainless steel cleaner, wiping in the direction of any visible polish lines

Our mounting system for polished letters uses concealed threaded studs that are TIG-welded to the back of each letter. The welds are carefully controlled to prevent heat distortion on the polished face — a critical detail that many manufacturers overlook. We also include anti-rotation flats on each stud so the letter can't twist during tightening.
