The system uses a silicone gasket sewn to the perimeter of a dye-sublimation printed fabric that presses into a precision-machined channel in an aluminum extrusion frame. The result is a perfectly tensioned, wrinkle-free graphic surface that stretches seamlessly across the light box face with no visible frame edges or fasteners.

Frame Construction & LED Integration
Our SEG light box frames are built to perform as integrated illumination systems, not just graphic holders with lights bolted inside. Here's what goes into every Sunlite SEG light box:
- Extrusion Profile: Proprietary 6063-T5 aluminum extrusion with integrated gasket channel, LED mounting rail, and structural ribbing. Available in multiple depths for edge-lit and direct-lit configurations.
- Corner Connections: Precision-machined aluminum corner keys that provide rigid 90-degree joints without visible fasteners. Corners are the weak point in many competitors' frames — ours are engineered for long-term structural integrity.
- LED System: Edge-lit models use high-output LED strip arrays mounted along the frame interior with an acrylic light guide panel for uniform diffusion. Direct-lit models use matrix-mounted LED modules with a separate diffusion layer.
- Power Supply: UL-recognized Mean Well drivers concealed within the frame or in an external junction box, depending on frame depth and configuration.
Every frame is assembled, squared, and tested in our facility before shipping. We verify illumination uniformity across the entire face and check fabric tension with a test graphic to ensure proper fit. Frames that don't meet our standards get reworked — we don't ship marginal product.
Fabric Graphic Production & Quality
The graphic is half the system, and graphic quality is just as important as frame quality. Sunlite Signs produces SEG fabric graphics using commercial dye-sublimation printing for wholesale trade orders on premium 240gsm backlit display fabric, optimized for our LED module systems:
- Print Resolution: Up to 1200 DPI for photographic-quality reproduction of images, logos, and fine typography
- Color Gamut: Wide-gamut dye-sublimation inks produce vibrant, saturated colors that look spectacular when backlit by our LED system
- Fabric Quality: Premium polyester display fabric with consistent opacity and light transmission. Every roll is inspected for weave defects before printing.
- Gasket Installation: Medical-grade silicone gasket is sewn to the fabric perimeter using a CNC-guided sewing system for consistent gasket positioning and tension
We can print from your client's artwork files (high-resolution PDF, TIFF, or PSD at 150+ DPI at full size) or work with your design team to optimize files for backlit fabric output. Color proofing is available for color-critical projects — we produce a printed swatch on the actual production fabric for your approval before the full graphic is printed.
Replacement graphics can be ordered independently from the frame, making it economical for clients to refresh their messaging seasonally or for promotions. Turnaround on replacement graphics is typically 5-7 business days.
