Sign Design to Manufacturing

A transparent look at how your project moves from concept to finished product. German-engineered processes, 3-week production, and quality controls at every stage.

From Your Design to a Finished Sign

Understanding how a wholesale sign manufacturer operates helps you set accurate expectations with your clients and plan your project timelines with confidence. At Sunlite Signs, our design-to-manufacturing process follows a structured German-engineered workflow that ensures every sign meets specifications, passes quality inspection, and ships on schedule.

The process begins when you submit your project requirements. This can be as simple as a napkin sketch with dimensions or as detailed as a complete design file with material specifications. Our engineering team reviews every submission and produces detailed shop drawings that cover dimensions, materials, finishes, electrical specifications, and mounting details. These drawings go to you for review and approval before any fabrication begins.

This approval step is critical. It ensures you and your client agree on every detail before we cut material, which virtually eliminates costly mid-production changes and the disputes that come with them. Once you approve the shop drawings, your sign enters our production queue with a standard 3-week timeline to completion.

Production Stages and Quality Controls

Sunlite manufacturing follows a sequential production workflow with quality checkpoints at each stage:

  • Material preparation: Aluminum, steel, acrylic, and other materials are cut and formed to shop drawing dimensions using CNC equipment
  • Fabrication: Components are welded, fastened, and assembled into the sign structure with jig-controlled alignment
  • Electrical assembly: LED modules, power supplies, and wiring are installed and tested per UL 48 requirements
  • Finishing: Paint, powder coat, or vinyl finishes are applied in our controlled environment spray booth
  • Quality inspection: Dimensional verification, illumination testing, and UL compliance checks before crating

Every sign passes through a final quality inspection before it is cleared for shipping. This includes verifying all dimensions against the approved shop drawing, testing illumination for uniform brightness, and confirming that all UL labels and documentation are in place. Signs that do not pass inspection are corrected before shipping — we do not pass quality issues to your installation crew.

Shipping and Installation Support

Sunlite Signs ships completed products via common carrier, with crating designed to protect the sign during transit. Large or fragile signs — from illuminated logo boxes to LED light box signs — are custom-crated with internal bracing to prevent damage. We coordinate shipping schedules with your installation timeline so signs arrive when your crew is ready, not weeks early taking up warehouse space.

Each shipment includes installation documentation with mounting details, electrical connection points, and any special handling instructions. If your crew encounters questions during installation, our support team is available by phone to provide guidance. This after-sale support is part of our commitment to making the wholesale relationship work smoothly from order through final installation.
