Acrylic Face Colors & Custom Matching
The acrylic face is the most visible color element of a front lit channel letter. Sunlite Signs stocks over 40 standard translucent acrylic colors from leading manufacturers including Plaskolite and Acrylite. These standard colors cover the full spectrum and satisfy the majority of commercial signage projects.
For brand-critical applications requiring exact color reproduction, we offer PMS and RAL color matching. Our process uses custom-cast acrylic formulated to match the specified color under both daylight and illuminated conditions. This dual-condition matching is critical because acrylic colors can shift significantly when backlit by white LEDs. We provide physical color samples for approval before committing to production.
Full-color graphics, gradients, logos, and photographic images are reproduced using digital-print translucent vinyl applied to white acrylic faces. This process delivers photographic-quality reproduction with outdoor durability rated at 5-7 years. It is the preferred method for multi-color brand marks that cannot be reproduced with solid-color acrylic panels.
Return & Trim Cap Finishes
Channel letter returns (side walls) and trim caps are finished to complement the acrylic face and match the overall brand design. Available finishes include:
- Painted Aluminum: Automotive-grade polyurethane paint in any color. We match PMS, RAL, and custom color specifications. Standard and metallic finishes available
- Brushed Aluminum: Natural brushed finish with clear protective coating. A popular choice for modern, industrial, and architectural designs
- Polished Stainless Steel: Mirror-finish stainless for luxury brands and high-end retail. Also available in brushed and satin finishes
- Anodized Aluminum: Available in black, bronze, champagne, and clear. Offers exceptional durability for exterior applications
Trim cap color — the plastic retainer that holds the acrylic face — is available in black, white, bronze, and clear as standard options. Custom trim cap colors can be sourced for qualifying order quantities. Our team helps you select the optimal combination of face color, return finish, and trim cap color to achieve the design intent. All options are compatible with our UL 48 listed assemblies and ship within our standard 3-week production timeline.
