Outdoor channel letters face relentless environmental stress — UV radiation, driving rain, freeze-thaw cycles, salt air, and temperature extremes. Sunlite Signs engineers every letter set to handle these conditions without premature failure or degradation. Our German-engineered aluminum housings use 0.040" minimum aluminum returns with fully welded seams that prevent moisture intrusion at joints and corners.
Internal components receive equal attention. LED modules are IP65 rated, meaning they are sealed against water jets and dust penetration. Wiring connections use marine-grade heat-shrink terminals and silicone-sealed junction points. Power supply housings are NEMA 3R rated for outdoor mounting. Every detail is designed to prevent the moisture-related failures that generate costly service calls for your sign shop.
Acrylic faces are UV-stabilized to resist yellowing and fading over years of sun exposure. We use cast acrylic rather than extruded material for superior dimensional stability and weather resistance. Trim caps — where specified — are bonded and mechanically fastened for a secondary seal against wind-driven rain.
